Knot is a shared balance tracking app. This Privacy Policy explains how Knot collects, uses, and protects information when you use our app, website, and related services.
We may collect information you provide directly, including your name, phone number, profile photo, contact information you choose to share, shared balance records, receipts, and payment details you choose to save, such as supported payment handles or bank transfer details. We may also collect technical information such as device identifiers, push notification tokens, app activity, and basic diagnostic information needed to operate and improve Knot.
If you grant permission, Knot may access your contacts to help you find people you know and create shared balance records with them. Contact access is optional. We do not sell your contacts or use them for advertising.
We use information to create and manage accounts, verify phone numbers, help users record and split shared balances, show saved payment options, organize receipts and activity history, send transactional notifications, detect knots between users, provide customer support, prevent abuse, and improve the app.
Knot may use SMS to send verification codes and account access messages. Balance updates, confirmations, settlement activity, and other account events may be delivered through in-app or push notifications. Message and data rates may apply to SMS verification. Knot does not sell or share mobile phone numbers, SMS opt-in data, or SMS consent with third parties, affiliates, or lead generators for marketing or promotional purposes.
Shared balance records, group splits, receipts, and related settlement activity may be visible to the users involved in those records. Knot does not process payments, issue loans, provide credit, or collect money on behalf of users. Users are responsible for the information they add to the app.
You can delete your account in the Knot app from your profile settings. When an account is deleted, we remove the user’s login access, profile information, device tokens, and account membership links. Shared balance history involving other users may be preserved so those users can keep accurate records. In those cases, the deleted user may appear as “Deleted user.”
We do not sell personal information. We may share limited information with service providers that help us operate Knot, such as authentication, hosting, analytics, notifications, SMS delivery, and customer support providers.
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect user information. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Knot is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we may notify users through the app, website, or other appropriate means.
